WORLD CUP HISTORY

The world cup history traces its life back to the year 1975.....This was the year when it all started...
This is the biggest event of cricket....This is the only tournament which includes almost all the cricketing nations....
From the best team to the weakest team, all teams are included...
This tournament is divided into several stages, which are: GROUP STAGE....SUPER 8s.....SEMI FINALS......THE FINALS......
This event is also the largest time consuming event as it continues for almost a month.....
This is the tournament which is a dream of every cricketer, and its title is the dream of every nation......
A player once noticed in this tournament becomes a hero for millions.....
Now lets focus on the teams who have their names in the "books of glory"...
In 1975, when the tournament started, the team to win the first world title was WEST INDIES.....
This team was known as the strongest team of those times and proved it by winning the first ever world cup title..The team was on the roll throughout the event....
The next world cup took place in the year 1979......This was the year when WEST INDIES won the title again.....
They won the titles both the time under the captaincy of SIR LLOYD.....
In the third world cup that took place in the year 1983, WEST INDIES was the favorite and were looking good enough to win the title for the third time....But.....
In this tournament was a team who were just a simple weak team who was included in the world cup....
This was team INDIA.........A team which was lead by KAPIL DEV......
No one in the world thought that this team could go on and win the cup....
This was the golden era for Indian cricket.....
The next world cup took place in the year 1987....
And this tournament was won by AUSTRALIA.....A team with tremendous confidence and power.....
In the 1992 world cup, PAKISTAN emerged as the winning team under the captaincy of IMRAN KHAN........
In 1996, the title was won by SRI LANKA......This team was lead by a great skipper......ARJUNA RANATUNGA.....
In the next world cup which took place in 1999, it was AUSTRALIA who went on and become the champions again.....
Then what....AUSTRALIA continued its great performance and went on to win the title in 2003 and 2007......
Then came the year 2011....
This year was the year of new records....
Ans this was the year for team INDIA to win the cup again...
This was the year in which INDIA lifted the cup after 28 long years...
The team was lead by MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI.....



We hope that in the next world cup which is going to be held in AUSTRALIA and NEW ZEALAND in the year 2015, team INDIA lifts the cup again and make us proud...

MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI

I would luv to start my blog with a topic on one of the finnest cricketer of the world and the current captain of india- MAHENDRA SINGH DHONI....
He is also known as MAHI....
He is the current captain of india and one of the best captain india has ever had...
He made his debut against BANGLADESH in 2004 when he was unfortunately runout without scoring a single run.....
He then "pulled up his socks" and played some great innings...
A star in afew matches, MAHI played a great knock of 183* against SRI LANKA when india was chassing a stiff target.....
Born in RANCHI,JHARKHAND mahi was a goalkeeper in his school and never thought that one day he would become one of the best wicket-keeper of the world..
He worked as a ticket collecter for sometime....
He is a beautiful gift given by god to us...
He was named the captain of the indian ODI team in 2007... This was the year when india won the inaugral t20 championship.....
People of india were sure that he would make a huge mark in cricket.....
He took the responsibility of the test team after ANIL KUMBLE announced his retirement....
Then what came everyone knows........INDIA became the no.1 test team of the world...
As a captain he has done alot for india......First winning a tri series in AUSTRALIA......A tri series in SRI LANKA......A series won against NEW ZEALAND in NEW ZEALAND....And the count continues...
Now lets focus on the mega event.........The 2011 ICC CRICKET WORLD CUP.....
Mahi did not show his real talent with the bat but was great behind the wickets....
People thought that this tournament did not prove to b a success for dhoni with the bat....
But, they were proved wrong......The bomb explodid and explodid so hard that the whole world could hear it....
It was in the final against SRI LANKA who was looking good and confident to win the title....
After sehwag and sachin were dismissed the hopes for india to win almost shattered...
But.......Gambhir had some other plans of making the night of finals a grand night...
After india lost wickets at regular intervals, the gambhir-dhoni partnership gave india hopes...
chassing a huge target set by the LANKANS these two played a sensible cricket....
the partnership was broken....
the hopes again came down....
but dhoni dint let that effect affect his batting and he went on and on....
as he played the indians were again on their feet cheering....
As the game came towards its end, victory for india was in the sight...
Requring 4 runs from afew balls left, the bowler bowled a good lenght ball and.......BANG......the ball goes out of the park....and india wins the title...
Scoring an unbeaten 91, mahi was the man of the match....
This was about international cricket....
Now lets talk about domestic cricket.....THE DLF IPL.....
Mahi is the captain of the CHENNAI SUPER KINGS...
A team which is known as the best team in IPL because of it consistency..
The SUPER KINGS were the runner ups in the first edition losing to RAJASTHAN ROYALS IN 2008..
In the 2009 edition of IPL they reached the semi finals were they lost to ROYAL CHALLANGERS...
But in 2010 and 2011 editions of IPL they were the champions beating MUMBAI INDIANS in 2010 and ROYAL CHALLENGERS in 2011...
Under his captaincy, SUPER KINGS win the AIRTEL CHAMPIONS LEAGUE in 2010 and are looking to win it...
He has various records under his belt which includes his knock of 124 against AUSTRALIA which is the highest individual score by any captain against AUSTRALIA.....
He was awarded by the RAJIV GANDHI AWARD in 2007-08 and became the second player to get that honour after SACHIN TENDULKAR(1996-97)...


He, surely is the best captain india has ever had and one of the finnest cricketer in this world....
